Aleksei brought me some slices of agate, that he uses I his work. (Agate is a rock consisting primarily of cryptocrystalline silica, alternating with microgranular quartz). Industrial uses of agate exploit its hardness, ability to retain a highly polished surface finish and resistance to chemical attack. In my work I used the natural tracery of agate in design for Aleksei’s business card.
